3000D Polypropylene Yarn

Heavy-denier PP multifilament yarn in 3000D (333 tex), produced as BCF for carpet and as ATY for industrial textiles. Dope dyed, UV stabilized, tenacity from 2.0 to 7.0 g/d. MOQ 1 ton, free samples for evaluation.

What 3000D actually means for your line

Denier is the weight of 9,000 metres of yarn in grams. So 3000D means one 9,000 m length weighs 3,000 g — about 0.33 g per metre, or 333 tex. In practical terms that is roughly two and a half times the mass of a 1260D webbing yarn and noticeably heavier than the 2400D most carpet plants run.

That weight buys you three things on the machine: fewer ends to handle for the same coverage, fewer knots and splices per running metre, and a fuller hand in the finished fabric. It also means the yarn is stiff enough that some fine-gauge knitting and light weaving machinery cannot take it — 3000D belongs on carpet tufting, rope and cordage, heavy webbing, geotextile and industrial cloth lines.

Filament count and tenacity are set per order — tell us the target fabric and we confirm the exact build on the order confirmation. The same lines also run every denier from 50D to 3000D, including 150D, 300D, 450D, 660D, 900D, 1000D, 1260D and 2000D.

Where 3000D is the right choice

Carpet and rug — BCF 3000D

For shag, long-pile and heavy residential carpet, 3000D BCF gives the bulk that holds pile height without collapsing under foot traffic, and covers more area per tuft than a finer yarn. Exhibition carpet, automotive mats and heavy commercial tile use the same yarn at a shorter pile. Dope dyeing means the colour is in the polymer, so it does not wash out in the backing line or fade at the window.

Rope, cordage and nets

Three-strand PP rope, mooring line, fishing net and cargo net all favour heavy multifilament: fewer ends per strand, higher break load for the same diameter, and better abrasion behaviour than fine yarn twisted to the same size. UV stabilization is recommended for anything that lives outdoors.

Webbing, slings and safety belts

Lifting slings, lap belts, safety nets and industrial lifting belts use high-tenacity 3000D where the specification is written around break strength rather than hand feel. Ask for the 5–6 g/d or 6–7 g/d ATY build when the load rating is the governing figure; standard 3.0–3.5 g/d is enough for general webbing.

Geotextile, FIBC and industrial cloth

Woven geotextile, ground cover, filter cloth, conveyor belt fabric and heavy industrial sewing thread run 3000D where strength per pick matters more than cover factor. The yarn also feeds high-pressure fire hose and optical cable strength members.

3000D vs 2400D vs 1260D

DenierWeight per 1,000 mTypical useChoose it when
1260D140 gWebbing, rope, safety belt, narrow fabricYou need strength in a thin, flexible tape or cord
2400D267 gStandard cut-pile carpet, upholstery, ATY fabricStandard carpet pile height, balanced cost per m²
3000D333 gShag and heavy carpet, rope, slings, geotextileYou need bulk, coverage or break load and the machine can take it

Most carpet plants settle on 2400D BCF and step up to 3000D only for the heavy end of the range. Webbing and rope buyers often start at 1260D and move to 3000D as the load rating rises. If you are between two deniers, order both in the free sample and run them on your own machine — the machine, not the datasheet, decides.

Dope-dyed colour and UV protection

All 3000D yarn is dope dyed: pigment goes into the polymer before spinning, so colour runs through the filament instead of sitting on the surface. That gives three practical results for a carpet or rope buyer — colour is repeatable from lot to lot, it survives abrasion and cleaning, and there is no dye bath waste water in the process.

Send a Pantone or RAL reference, or a physical sample of the shade you are matching, and we return a lab dip before production. For outdoor use — exhibition carpet, ground cover, mooring rope, safety net — specify UV stabilization; it is a standard option on this line, not a special project.

Frequently asked questions

What is 3000D in tex?

333 tex. Denier divided by 9 gives tex, so 3000D is 333 g per 1,000 metres. If your specification is written in dtex, that is 3,333 dtex.

Is 3000D available in both BCF and ATY?

Yes. BCF 3000D is the carpet construction — bulked, high cover, soft hand. ATY 3000D is air textured and used for upholstery, industrial fabric and webbing where you want a cotton-like surface. Both are dope dyed and can be UV stabilized.

What is the minimum order?

1 ton per colour and specification, and the sample is free so you can test before committing to a production run.

Should I use 3000D or 2400D for carpet?

2400D covers standard cut pile and most commercial tile economically. Move to 3000D for shag, long pile, heavy residential or where you want more coverage per tuft and fewer ends. If your tufting gauge is fixed, check the yarn can pass the needle and the backing can hold the tuft — that constraint decides before the price does.

Can you match a specific colour?

Yes. Dope dyeing is matched to a Pantone or RAL code, or to a physical sample you send. We produce a lab dip for approval before the bulk run.

How is 3000D yarn packed for export?

Pallet loads of 18–20 tons as standard. Cartons, bags or your own pallet configuration can be arranged — tell us the warehouse or container constraint and we pack to it.

Get 3000D specifications for your application

Send the denier, the application, the colour reference and your target quantity. You get the specification sheet, a price and a delivery date back — usually within one working day. If you are still choosing between deniers, say so and we will quote two options so you can compare on your own machine.
